Guys, Now it's been confirmed that I'll be working in York next year I thought I'd take a look at what was close by. The Scarborough Road Races or Oliver's Mount is only 35 miles away. It's just a thought but I'll be planning on going to the Gold Cup Road Races on 13-14 September 2008. Here's an idea of the type of stuff that goes on (check out the fella on No21 and the guys in the No11 Sidecar): If anyone from the Club would be interested I'm sure I'll be able to sort out accommodation etc etc. M.

As previously stated, if anyone from the Club wants to come across and see some racing at Scarborough, you're more and welcome to use whatever digs I have set up in York. Race dates so far are: Sunday 20th April 08 - Ian Watson Spring Cup Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July 08 - Cock of the North Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September 08 - Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup Might even make a good Club Weekend away? ? But you can earmark a corner in your flat for me for the September weekend No worries mate - consider it done. M. PS. Now that at least one Club member is going across does that mean it can go into the Events list?

I have raced at the gold cup and the Cock of the North races a few years ago. Brilliant little track and th town is great of the beers. The club who run the events have a website www.auto66.com I would love to go back and have another run around Scarbrough, if there was enough intrest then i could go and race with the help of the club. Good photo mate......... ..........and what a cracking idea! Presumably we're talking about the Gold Cup in mid - September? I just checked the websites again and it appears Jack's right, the dates are now 20-21 September 2008. Phil's already interested in coming over and I did a quick check on the ferry websites. P&O (Larne - Cairnryan) would be looking £250 approx for a van + 3 adults and it's 225 miles from Cairnryan to York (if you want to use my digs). If enough members are interested in joining in then I can't see why we wouldn't look to subsidise it. Worth bringing up at the next meeting. M.

Well, I'm in the new pad - a two bedroom apartment no less . Anyway, it's under a year old and has everything I need to survive. It's situated very near to York Race Course (10 min walk), close to the main ring road (A64) which is no more than a 10 min drive away which takes you straight into Scarborough and the centre of York is only a mile away. There's more than enough room to accomodate 4 people comfortably and anyone from the Club is more than welcome to use the place. M.

And what would the parking for bikes be like in the area

Hi mate, There's no garages at the apartments, just dedicated car spaces so it would be locks/disc locks for sure. In saying that I've not been made aware of a theft problem in the area. I might be able to sort out parking within work though which would solve the problem (it's only a 5-10 minute drive to the apartment). ;D M.
