Just found this info on another website (and yeh I know, I should be working......):
Promoted by motorcycling event legend Billy Nutt, the Motorcycle Festival of 2008 will be going solo as all the previous competing shows have pulled out and the Dublin show will not be held next year. We are now the largest motorcycle festival in Northern Ireland. The main hall is already sold out and we are planning an auto jumble and classic bike display for the smaller halls.
All major manufacturers have expressed their desire to have space with many scheduled to display some of the latest and newest models of 2008, these include the new 2008 Suzuki machines in the form of GSXR 600, GSX 1300 B KING and the Hayabusa. Yamaha will have on display the XT 125 X, the new R6 & R1 2008 models, along with the FZ1S 1000. Ducati will exhibit new machinery, which includes the 848cc and 1098cc Superbikes. Harley Davidson will have a few surprises in store for the many thousands of festival goers. Kawasaki will have their new ZX10 and GTR 1400. Triumph will present their new Street Triple 675 and Triumph Tiger, and the Royal Enfield from DnD will also make an appearance. Honda will present the brand new CBF 600 (ABS), Transalp 680 and the CBR 1000 RR. Plus many more to be announced
Our main sponsor again this year will be Adelaide Insurance and IAM. Sam Geddis, General Manager of Adelaide Insurance Services, Northern Ireland’s leading
motorcycle insurance provider, expressed his delight at being the main sponsor of Northern Ireland Motorcycle Festival for the fourth year in succession. Each year Adelaide has offered co sponsorship of the Festival to organisations that solely promote safety on our roads - initially Roadwise and this year for the second time, the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). The IAM
is the UK’s leading road safety charity, dedicated to improving the riding skills of motorcyclists through their Advanced Riding Test, engaging with the road-using public and influencing road safety policy. Adelaide encourages motorcyclists attending the Festival to seek out an IAM representative and consider taking action to become a safer rider. Successfully complete their programme and Adelaide will reward you with reduced motorcycle insurance costs.
In 2008 we see the return of the Karting Association, so for anyone wanting to get involved with karting, the karting organisation NIKA will be on hand to help with any queries plus the latest karts will be on show.
Another part of the Motorcycle fraternity, which has proved a success over the years is the Off Road Section. Off Road enthusiasts will be able to get all the information they need about getting involved with this form of motorcycling from Youth to Adults from the MRA stand in the main hall.Geoff Hill will be displaying some of the bikes he used in his many adventures. The Royal Enfield, which he used on his 7000 mile trip from Delhi – Belfast. The Harley Davidson Road King, which he used on one of the worlds most Famous Routes, Route 66 from Chicago – Los Angeles, and a Triumph Tiger, which he used for his 16,500 mile trip from Chile – Alaska!
For 2008 outside activities will include Super Moto displays, Stunt Man Mattie Griffin, he is one of the best stunt riders about today and will be putting on 3 shows per day. He alone is well worth a visit. Motorcycle Trial Display Team will perform some breath taking displays of motorcycle riding. After the success of this year’s festival we were delighted to be able to support a number of events such as motorcross, short circuit racing and karting and we hope that in 2008 we will be able to do the same again.
Already stars from the motorcycle world are being lined up to visit the festival and meet the fans. Guy Martin and Ian Hutchinson have already confirmed that they will be in attendance. We are all looking forward to the 2008 Festival, which is the only event where the public have an opportunity to see what’s new in the motorcycling and karting world all under one roof!
