The story so far
planned to meet at the 7 Towers round about at 0600, jack arrived at 0610 but no sign of marty. A few laps of the roundabout on my new Vstrom 1000 but still no sign of marty. A quick phone call at 0620 and marty answered the phone the find he had slept in. Change of RV to the dunsilly and marty arrived at 0650. A quick jaunt down the motorway to the dock to arrive just as the gate were about to close. Managed to get on ok, no waiting about, straight up the ramp on to the boat. Thanks to marty for buying the breakfast to make up for the delay. Boat is now pulling in to the dock in scotland updates to follow

Good to hear you two got to Fortwilliam ok. It must have been a cracking day to travel up if the weather was anything like at home although the forecast for tomorrow up your way isn't too special. Look on the bright side though - Marty can have another lie in ;)and you can spend the day in the pub! ;D Recognise this? Yep, nothing stays secret for too long nowadays mate. You can put a better one up in the Photo Gallery when you get back. Let us know how you two are getting along. M.

started out wet but not really raining for the drive to ullapool. Weather started to improve on the drive up,. Some cracking roads and views.. Took a longer route than planned as we were going to arrive in ullapool to early so 80 odd miles around gairlock added a couple of hours. Arrived in ullapool about 3.30 got booked in to the hostel and headed in to the town. Fish and chips was the order of the day followed by a pint of ice cold magners by the harbour.
More updates to follow if i stay soder enough.
I will try and add some pictures but i am using my mobile to access the site and cant get the photos to copy from my phone yet.

Sounds like you got away with the weather alright - it was completely shite down here in the South all day. Magners? In the afternoon? Feck, that would definitely do nicely! Enjoy lads. M. PS. Just out of interest.......when is the 1st service due on a V-Strom ;D

The vstrom wasn't new its 09 and had 2300 miles on it, so next service is at 6000 miles. It still under warranty so i may have to get it serviced at a dealers.

well we survived the metropolis which was Ullapool. The bars were bland and all the chippies were closed by 10 pm. Had to make fo with a packet of dry roasted nuts.
This morning was dull and overcast dut it was dry, good run back down to Inverary with some sun breaking through by the afternoon. Arrived in Inverary about 5 pm, it was buzzing on monday when we passed through it, but tonight it is lifeless, only found 2 bars so far, so we are only having a couple in each.
Big run tomorrow down to ambelside, probably just push down the motorway from glasgow to carlise then spend a bit longer in the lake district.

woke up this morning to bright sunshine for a change. The weather was excellent in inverary for the run down to the lake district. First part of the journey was on good A roads, then it was into Glasgow and on to tge motorway for a clean run to Carlisle. Then back on to the A road down to Keswick. Roads are a lot busier around here, more lots of motorhomes, caravans and slow drivers. But we made it to Keswick ok, but then i decided i knew were we were going and took us down the Burrowdale valley only to find out i was going the very long way around, so after a stop up the hoister pass, we turned around and i let marty lead with the sat nav. We arrived at the hostel near ambleside about 5 pm. The place was buzzing, right on the side of the lake, lots of people about lying on the shore sun bathing. Took a few pictures out of the room window of the lake and the bikes. Might just have also included some bikini clad girls who were in the way.
Got settled into the room and headed back in to ambleside to find a cash point and have some dinner and a couple of pints. Now in the bar after a nice curry and a pint. We will be heading back to the hostel about 9 pm to sample some of the bars around it.
I will try and upload some pictures tomorrow when we reach chester.
